Public Outreach

I have made more than 800 presentations in the past decade to state and national groups on the implications of demographic, social and economic change for state and national populations with emphases on the implications for racial/ethnic minorities and the future of Texas and the United States. My work has been cited in the creation of legislation for college funding for minorities in Texas and in court cases that have resulted in greater equality in funding among Texas schools. As also indicated in material provided below, I have worked as an active member of numerous committees aimed at identifying and addressing educational, health, and other public needs in Texas and beyond.

I made 51 presentation in 2010 to groups such as those noted above in which listeners were informed of the interest of Rice in contributing to the identification and resolution of key issues impacting Texans and other Americans.
