Bioremediation of DNAPL Source Zones
Source zone bioremediation harnesses the natural metabolism of dehalorespiring organisms, capable of thriving at high concenrations of chlorinated solvent contamination, to modify the dissolution characteristics of DNAPLs. A quantitative demonstration is being conducted in parallel environmental controlled release systems (ECRS) with known initial DNAPL mass and composition. One will be bioaugmented and the other will be an independent control.
