    Chao-mei Shen
Shen has been conducting research on readng and writing in the field of Chinese teaching. Through writing Chinese lessons with a web-authoring tool from a narrow reading approach, she is investigating the effectiveness of this approach in helping students of Chinese improve all four language skills. Research is also designed to examine whether technology helps student writing more than traditional classroom discussion. Shen is also researching how common Chinese sociolinguistic patterns are embodied in the language per se. Shen's research has also been on analyzing naturalistic conversational data for understanding cross-cultural communication breakdowns.
