Cinematic Spaces of the Soviet Thaw
 

This book length research project examines conceptions of space in Soviet cinema of the 1950s and ’60s. It pursues close readings of key films of the period through the lens of contemporaneous developments in architecture and urban planning, tourism and travel, and cultural and economic expansion, as well as in relation to emerging re-conceptualizations of space and spatial experience in both the Soviet Union and Western Europe at the time.
